Description

The Olympic was built by Harland & Wolff in Belfast and was the largest vessel in the world at the time. Older sister of the 'Titanic', the Olympic was launched on 20 October, 1910 and served as a reliable member of the White Star fleet until she was scrapped in 1935 after striking and sinking the famous Nantucket lightship off the eastern coast of the United States. Illustration from 'The White Star triple-screw Atlantic liners 'Olympic' and 'Titanic', 45,000 tons : the largest steamships in the world', published in Newcastle-on-Tyne in 1911.
