View of the Summit railway station on Mount Snowdon in Wales, with a train at the platform and the Snowdon Summit Hotel at the top of the slope above. The 'Snowdon Mountain Tramroad & Hotels Company' was formed in 1894 to provide a service to take people to the summit of Mount Snowdon, leaving fron Llanberis station and travelling the five miles to this Summit station. Photograph published by Francis Bedford & Co. Bedford (1816-1894) was a prolific and well-respected photographer, best known for his numerous topographic and architectural views of Britain. He was assisted by his son, William (1846-1893) whose work is almost indistinguishable from that of his father.
