The railway station at Llanberis, Wales, with a train run by the 'Snowdon Mountain Tramroad & Hotels Company' at the platform. In the foreground is a water pump for filling the locomotive's boiler. The company was founded in 1894 to provide a service to take people to the summit of Mount Snowdon. The small locomotives used on the Llanberis Railway line would have all also been used at one time or another to haul the slate wagons from the quarry. Photograph published by Francis Bedford & Co. Bedford (1816-1894) was a prolific and well-respected photographer, best known for his numerous topographic and architectural views of Britain.
