A photographic view of Caernarfon Castle taken from Twt Hill, published by Francis Bedford & Co. The castle was built by Edward I (1239-1307) in 1283 as part of his plan to surround Wales with fortifications to subdue the Welsh. Twt Hill is an eleventh century fortress built by Robert of Rhuddlan.
