actual image size: 32cm x 26cm

Early photograph of Wadham College, Oxford, founded by Nicholas and Dorothy Wadham in the reign of King James I. Wadham has some of the oldest and best kept buildings, even though it is one of the youngest of the historic colleges. The front quad, which acted as most of the college until the mid 20th century, is the first example of 'Jacobean Gothic' style, which was copied by University and Oriel Colleges. Wadham was the first historically all-male college to accept a female student.
