Popular singer Vera Lynn made her first radio broadcast in 1935, singing with the Joe Los Orchestra. She is best known for her commitment to the war effort. As 'The Force's Sweetheart' Vera Lynn sang popular, sentimental tunes to rally the troops during World War Two. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs.
