A photograph of children enjoying their presents at a hospital Christmas party, taken by Roper for the Daily Herald newspaper on 28 December, 1937. These children are patients on the Queen Alexandra Ward of the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital, Great Ormond Street, London. A teddy bear appears to be hanging from the branches of the Christmas tree behind them. The Royal London Homeopathic Hospital was founded by Dr Frederick Quinn in 1849, an enthusiast for the provision of homeopathic medicine. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
