Description

Photograph of a woman sitting under a beehive-shaped hairdryer at the Health and Beauty Exhibition in the Horticultural Hall, Westminster, taken by Woodbine for the Daily Herald newspaper on 29 November, 1938. A 1970s study by Cecil Helman showed that many people then associated going out in the cold after a haircut was likely to bring on illness.
