As part of a campaign to get children to drink more milk, the Agriculture MInister, Major Elliot, visited Addison Gardens School where pupils could drink milk for a halfpenny a day. In 1946, the School Milk Act introduced free milk for all pupils under eighteen. Photograph taken by George Woodbine for the Daily Herald newspaper.
