Doctor Marie Stopes (1880-1958) having lunch with Douglas Warth, taken just over a year before Marie Stopes' death from cancer. Highly influential, Stopes is renowned for her pioneering work on birth control isues and for founding the UK's first family planning clinic in 1921. Today, Marie Stopes International provides sexual and reproductive health information and services worldwide. Photograph taken by F W Greaves for the Daily Herald newspaper.
