A photograph of customers outside a pub in Walworth, London, raising their glases to celebrate cheaper beer, taken by Tomlin for the Daily Herald newspaper on 26 April, 1933. In his budget the previous day, (Arthur) Neville Chamberlain (1869-1940), chancellor of the Exchequer, lowered the price of beer by a penny a pint. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
