Description

A photograph of a television signal generator demonstration, taken by George Woodbine for the Daily Herald newspaper. This demonstration formed part of an exhibition held at the Science Museum, London. The device, in the foreground, focuses on a woman sitting in a special booth. John Logie Baird (1888-1946) gave the first demonstration of a mechanical television device in London in 1926. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
