A photograph of an electrical experiment at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), capturing the flash of a million volts, in Teddington, Middlesex, taken by James Jarche for the Daily Herald newspaper on 10 February, 1933. The NPL was founded in 1900 to provide research on materials and scientific measurement. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
