A photograph of two women with their vintage car on Westminster Bridge in London, taken by James Jarche for the Daily Herald newspaper on 20 November, 1932. These competitors in the London to Brighton 'Old Crocks Race' are driving a vintage Pieper motorcar, built in 1899. The London-Brighton car rally began in 1896, celebrating the lifting of speed restrictions on early motor vehicles. Today, the annual event brings together the world's largest gathering of vintage cars. The event takes place every year on the first Sunday in November when the cars, all built before 1905, aim to travel between London and Brighton.
