A photograph of a group of fishermen gutting their catch on the decks of a trawler, taken by an unknown photographer for the Daily Herald newspaper in about 1930. Each fisherman proudly holds up a different fish for this photograph, taken at sea at night. The man smoking a pipe in the background is probably the captain or first mate, responsible for managing the fishermen's work. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
