Description

Frontispiece showing a phenomenon of the Arctic Circle, with the sky darkening in the middle of the night, the opposite of the Midnight Sun. Illustration from 'New lands within the Arctic circle' by Julius Payer (1842-1915), published in London in 1876. This describes the discoveries of the Austrian ship 'Tegetthoff' in the years 1872-1874.
