The top half of the trade card shows a pair of spectacles and instruments, next to text reading 'The Original Shop for Crown Glas Spectacles'. Joseph Linnell, (succesor to James Ayscough), made and sold spectacles, reading glases, concaves, microscopes, telescopes, prisms, camera obscuras, magic lanterns, barometers and thermometers. His premises were based at 33 Ludgate Street, near St Paul's Cathedral, London.
