Description

Engraved plate from the 'New and Universal Dictionary of Arts and Sciences', by J Barrow, published in London in 1754. The illustration shows workers dyeing lengths of calico cloth in large wooden and brick vats. To the right of the picture a worker is wringing exces water from the cloth.
