Etching by Scottish artist Walter Geikie (1795-1837) showing a father buying gingerbread from a stand for his children. A group of people are sitting on the gras talking nearby. One of a collection of works published posthumously in 1841 in Geikie's 'Etchings Illustrative of Scottish Character and Scenery'. Gingerbread was traditionally bought at fairs.
