Engraving by William Blake (1757-1827), showing a man holding a stick, pointing at a pin standing upright on a table. The interior is full of scientific and historic objects including compases, an armillary sphere, a mummified figure, an urn and a shield. Blake was one of the leading figures of Romanticism. He was both an artist and a poet. His work was mainly forgotten until the pre-Raphaelites in the mid 19th century exclaimed his work to be visionary.
