Lithograph comprising three related images. In the first image, 'Sure to perish either way', the occupants of the building are about to be engulfed by flames, as they can escape the blaze only by jumping from the windows of the building. The central image shows the exterior of a burning building: firefighters rescue the occupants with the 'anti-ignitious' fire escape system while the flames are put out by a fire engine hose. The image on the right, 'Sure all to be saved', shows a child being rescued using the 'anti-ignitious' system: it is placed in a sack which can be carried to the ground safely by a rope attached to the exterior of the building.
