Description

A photograph of the ceremony unveiling a giant bronze memorial bust of Karl Marx at Highgate Cemetery on 14 March 1956. The unveiling was performed by Harry Pollitt, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Great Britain. Karl Marx has been buried in Highgate Cemetery since his death in 1884. This photograph has been selected from the Daily Herald Archive, a collection of over three million photographs. The archive holds work of international, national and local importance by both staff and agency photographers.
