Description

Vesta Tilley (1864 - 1952), born Matilda Alice Powles in Worcestershire, was an English male impersonator and singer who gained fame during World War I on the music hall stage principally for recruitment drives for the army and entertaining soldiers in army hospitals. She enjoyed great popularity on the stage in Britain and the United States for over thirty years.
