Colour lithograph by Becquet. The Exposition Universelle was a world fair held in Paris, France which opened on 15 May 1855. It followed by four years London, England's Great Exhibition and attempted to rival and top that fair which produced Crystal Palace, with Palais de l'Industrie. This exhibition was a major event in France, which was newly under the control of Napoleon III.
