A photograph taken in 1916 at the Curtiss Aviation School which was based at the Atlantic Coast Aeronautical Station in Newport News, Virginia. Founded by Glenn Curtiss, the early American aviator and aircraft manufacturer, the school went on to train many pilots for both the army and navy. The photograph was taken by Frank J. Conway, a photographer who worked for the Curtiss Aeroplane & Motor Company. The photograph shows one of the aviators next to one of the school's Curtiss Jenny aircraft.
