Description

'Steel works are usually associated with South Wales or the industrial north, but it is surprising fact that the steel foundry with the largest output of carbon or plain steel castings in the country is situated at Letchworth in Hertfordshire, only 30 miles from London. Photograph shows a steel converter in action, in which molton iron is converted into steel'.
