Description

British marines marching through a square in Ostend, Belgium, WWI. The German army first invaded the neutral state of Belgium on 4 August 1914, and quickly overran the country and occupied Brussels on 20 August 1914. Belgium was not liberated until the final Allied offensive that began in mid 1918.
