Coloured lithograph by T Picken after W L Leith. The quarry was first worked in the 17th century when its sandstone was used for Edinburgh Castle. A man and woman are relaxing in the foreground, watching the activity of the quarry, with the city of Edinburgh in the distance. Published in London by Day & Son and in Glasgow by Griffen & Co.
