Description
This printed receipt contains a vignette illustrating the mine buildings of the Walker Hill Colliery. The colliery was approximately 2 1/2 miles east of the centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne. The receipt states the standard measurement for coal - the Newcastle chaldron - which was the equivalent of 36 bushels, or approximately 2134 kilos.
