Photograph by H Wade showing Lee Guinnes at the wheel of his Darracq in a motoring competition organised by the Yorkshire Automobile Club at Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire, on 13th September 1913. Members of the famous family of brewers, both Algernon and, more particularly, his younger brother Kenelm Lee Guinnes were well known competitors in motor racing events in the years before the First World War and the 1920s. Kenelm, who gained his first experience of motor racing riding as Algernon's mechanic, was also the inventor of the KLG spark plug.
