Engraving by A Ashley for the British Gazetteer after an original drawing by J F Burrell showing a steam train crosing Richmond Bridge over the River Thames. In the 1830s, the construction of Britain's railways began and many prints, such as this one, depicting the new lines, bridges and viaducts became available to the public. The Richmond Railway Bridge was completed in 1848.
