Print showing nine views of the Liverpool & Manchester Railway (LMR), including some of its major engineering feats. Built under the supervision of chief engineer George Stephenson (1781-1848), the LMR was the world's first intercity railway. It was opened on 15 September 1830. The views illustrated are: 'Liverpool Station', 'Moorish Arch', 'The Tunnel', 'Sankey Viaduct', 'Entrance into Manchester', 'Entrance of the Tunnels', 'Chat Mos', 'Newton Viaduct' and the 'Rainhill Skew Bridge'.
