Description

Lithograph made in 1830 by John Alfred Vinter showing a portrait of Frederick Albert Winsor (1763-1830) who, in c 1807, introduced and promoted the three flame 'cockspur lamp' gas lighting system which appeared in Pall Mall and later Golden Lane, London. Winsor, after asisting the Westminster Gas Light and Coke Company to obtain a charter in 1810, went on to found the world's first gas company in Paris in 1815.
