Titled 'Representation of the great eclipse of the sun...', the chart was Published by Darton and Harvey, London in 1836. It illustrates the Moon's path acros the Sun and shows the position of various stars and planets that may be seen. On this occasion the planets Jupiter and Venus were close together in conjunction but some distance from the Sun. The eclipse was not total, but rather annular so that a thin ring of the Sun's disc was seen at mid eclipse in central Scotland and Northern England.
