Description

Engraving separated into two parts: a working scene at the top showing proceses, and tools and equipment at the bottom. The plate shows the melting of cast iron, pouring the molten iron into moulds and removing castings from the moulds. At the top, artisans are melting cast iron using two small foundry furnaces. Illustration from 'Regnum subterraneum sive minerale de ferro' (The Subterranean or Mineral Kingdom in respect to Iron) by Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) published in Dresden in 1734.
