Plate from the Illustrated London News (Vol 65/2 p 240). The building with the clock tower is the large Copenhagen Fields market, situated on the Caledonian road in King's Cros. The 'inspection' seems to have turned into a riot as farmers and policemen try to control unruly cattle, the horses drawing the cart in the background threaten to bolt, and even the sheep dog seems unwilling to obey his master.
