Workshop where drawing instruments and tools are made. The man at the rear is using a treadle to power the lathe. A plate from 'Twintig plaaten, voorstellende de werkplaatsen benevens de voornaamste werktuigen en voortbrengselen van twintig verschillende ambachten' (Twenty plates, representing the workrooms together with the principle tools and products of twenty different trades) published in Groningen in the Netherlands in 1849. Each of these coloured plates shows a different trade with a central scene showing tradespeople in a workshop, surrounded by a frame that includes the main tools and products of that trade.
