Description

Wash drawing by H Rowbottom showing a biplane in the air shortly after take-off, watched by ground crew. In the distance, other aeroplanes are already in the air, apparently bombing ships. World War I saw the first use of aircraft specifically designed for bombing targets on the ground or at sea.
