A photograph of the HMA 'Delta' airship tethered to the ground. Both the British and German military used airships in their air campaigns during World War I (1914-1918). Airships, such as the German Zeppelin LZ30, could hold large bombloads and carry out artillery barrages on enemy installations, wreaking devastation. It was only after German air raids on London that a report for the Cabinet on Air Organisation recommended the creation of an Air Ministry to control air warfare in Britain. Dimensions: 185mm x 240mm.
