Sheet music cover, illustrated by Starmer, showing a Handley Page bomber in flight. The song is dedicated to the aircraft manufacturer Frederick Handley Page, and the lyrics and music were written by Leon de Costa. The Handley-Page bomber was Britain's first large bomber aircraft. The twin-engined Handley Page was introduced in 1916 and was capable of reaching targets as far away as the German industrial regions of the Saar and Ruhr. Towards the end of the war the bomber was carrying huge new 1650 lb bombs. After the end of World War I, several Handley Pages were converted to carry pasengers.
