Stone engraving by I S Templeton after a drawing by R W Billings, showing the opening of New Hungerford Market. A balloon piloted by the English aeronaut, George Graham and carrying two other pasengers, is shown ascending in the foreground. George Graham and his wife Margaret made numerous balloon ascents in Britain between the 1820s and the 1850s, most of which ended in disaster, and they were as famous for their apparent good fortune in surviving these adventures as for their aeronautical skills. Dimensions: 343mm x 495mm.
