Studio cabinet photograph by Alexander Basano of the architect Ewan Christian (1814-1895). Made RIBA President in 1884, Christian was a prolific designer of ecclesiastical buildings in the second half of the 19th century. His most famous work includes the restoration of Carlisle Cathedral and the purpose-built National Portrait Gallery near Trafalgar Square. Dimensions: 431mm x 279 mm.
