Carte de visite photograph. David Moore (1807-1879) was born in Dundee, Scotland but migrated to Ireland in 1828. After four years working as an asistant gardener in the botanic gardens at Dublin University, Moore became a field botanist working for the Irish Ordnance Survey, collecting indigenous species in Northern Ireland. From 1838 until his death in 1879, he was director of the National Botanic Gardens at Glasnevin. He published numerous papers on botany.
