Carte de visite photograph by Philipp Uhl & Company of Giesen, Germany. Leuckart (1823-1898) became profesor of zoology at Giesen in 1850, and then held the same post at Leipzig from 1869. He was a pioneer of parasitology and did important work on clasification, specifically his division of the Radiata into Coelenterata and Echinodermata. His work on Entozoa is also significant.
