Description

Chromolithograph by Spy of Gully (1808-1883) who pioneered hydrotherapy. He introduced a hydropathic treatment, together with James Wilson, at the spa town of Malvern, in Hereford and Worcester, source of the famous Malvern Water. The treatment for his well-to-do patients consisted of dieting, being wrapped in wet sheets, drinking the water and walking on the hills. Gully published 'The Water Cure in Chronic Disease' in 1846. From the magazine 'Vanity Fair'. Dimensions: 400mm x 270mm.
