Sir William Bart MacCormac (1836-1901), was the son of Dr Henry MacCormac. He studied medicine and surgery at Belfast and Dublin and graduated with a degree in arts, medicine and surgery from Queen's University of Ireland. He set up a practice in Belfast, where for several years he was also surgeon to the General Hospital. In the Franco-German War of 1870 he was surgeon-in-chief to the Anglo-American Ambulance.
