Etching of Nikola Tesla (1856-1943), naturalised American physicist and electrical engineer, who was born in Croatia to Serbian parents. Tesla was an inventor, electrical engineer and scientist. His inventions include polyphase electrical power systems and the alternating-current induction motor. He also developed the Tesla coil transformer, wireles communication, radio, and registered over 700 other patents. The SI unit (the international system of standard scientific units) of magnetic flux density, the 'tesla', is named after him. Published by the International Telecommunication Union (1955-1964).
