Description

Reproduction by Hentschel Colourtype, London, of a caricature by Leslie Ward, better known as Spy, from a 'Vanity Fair' supplement. Sir David Salomons (1851-1925) was a pioneer of early motor car development. In 1895 he imported the first Peugeot car into Britain. He was also vice president of the Institute of Electrical Engineers, and founder and first president of the RAC (Royal Automobile Club).
