Photograph taken from the Charles Urban Collection at the Science Museum, London. Charles Urban (1867-1942) was born in Ohio, Cincinnati on 15 April 1867 and was a pioneer of early cinema. He did much to establish documentary, news, travel and educational film. He was also the producer of the world's first succesful natural colour motion picture system, kinemacolor.
