Plate taken from 'Le Soleil' (Paris, 1875) by Angelo Secchi. The two lines shown on the figure (KK and LL) represent the projection of the ecliptic on the solar disc at the beginning and at the end of the observations; AB is the celestial parallel; CD represents the circle of decline.
